The seventh edition of the Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival will take place on September 25th, 26th, and 27th in the J.A. de Sève Cinema at Concordia University (1453 Mackay Street, Montreal). 

This year’s event will focus on what Montreal has achieved in recent years, such as the feature film The Little Prince that was distributed in Québec and shot entirely in Montreal. To celebrate the efforts and talent of the artists, the festival will offer a special behind-the-scenes presentation with some of the key members of the crew.

The festival will also include famed animator Cordell Barker (The Cat Came Back) and the Québec premiere of his new movie If I Was God. Also to attend is world famous pixilation artist PES with a master class on both his way of working and his many productions. Aardman Animation’s Laurie Sitzia will join the festival to show the animation process that went into the production of a feature film like Shaun the Sheep: The Movie. 

The Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival will show 88 films from 26 countries all competing during this weekend-long event, which proves that stop-motion is currently taking the animation world by storm. This year also has something for the whole family. The festival is offering two free family screenings with animation software, so young animators can discover the magic of animation on site. The VIP pass is your best bet if you don’t want to miss anything at the festival.
