‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ Poster Features Bearded Teenage Hiccup

Except dragons but DreamWorks is handling those ones pretty well

Yesterday, DreamWorks Animation released three poster sneak peeks for its upcoming animated feature How to Train Your Dragon 2 featuring Hiccup, Toothless and a part of Hiccup’s outfit. These were just teases of the full poster, which was released today, and it looks amazing!

How to Train Your Dragon 2 is the second film in the DreamWorks Dragons trilogy. This second film will continue five years after the first film ended and this time we will see Hiccup as a teenager. While Astrid and the others are challenging each other to Dragon races, Hiccup and his friend Toothless are exploring the world. When they discover a secret ice cave, they realize it’s home to hundreds of new wild dragons and a mysterious Dragon rider.

New poster and picture of Toothless below:

This new poster is stunning. Dark, textured, and graphic. The colors, character designs (Hiccup has a little beard) and textures are amazing (check out that leather!).  I can’t wait to see these characters move in action (I know we technically have the teaser trailer, but we don’t really see Hiccup much because he’s wearing a mask).

Also, it seems as if we have another great animated trilogy on our hands. This will be the first animated trilogy to come after the epic Toy Story trilogy and, personally, think DreamWorks really deserves it with this amazing cast of characters and this beautiful storyline. Hopefully we’ll get a full trailer soon (maybe in front of Frozen?), although I feel DreamWorks will want to focus on promoting Mr. Peabody & Sherman first. So we may not see the full HTTYD2 trailer until March when that film releases.

What do you think of this new HTTYD2 poster? Are you excited that this is part of a trilogy?

How to Train Your Dragon 2 will release in theatres June 13, 2014.
