The Spice Girls are reuniting again, this time in animation! Paramount Animation recently announced a Spice Girls movie is in early development. Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria told The Hollywood Reporter that the Spice Girls came up with the original idea that Paramount Animation is now developing into a movie. “They are very involved,” she said. The film will feature classic songs from the band as well as new ones. Simon Fuller (So You Think You Can Dance) is producing the animated film with Karen McCullah and Kiwi Smith as the screenwriters (Legally Blonde, 10 Things I Hate About You). The entire group—Melanie Brown (Scary), Emma Bunton (Baby), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), Geri Halliwell (Ginger) and Victoria Beckham (Posh)—have reportedly given their blessing. There is no set date for when the Spice Girls movie will premiere, though it will most likely be awhile, given that this developing film was announced along with a slate of brand new animated movies starting in 2020.
