Evolution of Family in Animated Sitcom

Moderated by Patty Jausoro, the panel featured historian Jerry Beck, Jesse Eisenberg (Hanna Barbera), David Silverman (The Simpsons), Jaydi Samuels (Family Guy), David Krinsky (King of the Hill), and Carl Jones (Boondocks).

The panel covered the creation of the animated sitcom, starting with The Flintstones, and how the following shows were similar or how they changed through the years, including family dynamics, portrayals of women and POC, and how long-running shows stay true to their characters & stories as times change.

Animated Feature Films – Making & Remaking

Jorge Gutierrez (Book of Life) moderated the panel that included Shannon Tindle (Kubo, writer), Trisha Gum (LEGO 2, co-director), Brad Ableson (Minions 2, co-director), and David Silverman (Simpsons Movie, director).

The panel discussed their processes, their studio differences, and how animated film-making is more complicated than most realize. The process is not simply “draw, color, and release,” but rather includes several re-writes, re-dos, and periods of re-thinking entirely. The panel also discussed balancing audience expectations and corporate expectations through both development and production.

LA Premiere of North of Blue

Premiere screening of director Joanna Priestley’s feature film, North of Blue, introduced by Joanna herself.

Rare Anime Unleashed!

Writer/producer Eric Calderon (Titans Return, Afro Samurai) displayed and showcased his incredible unique anime collection, full of a variety of fandoms, merchandise, and rarities.

An Evening Honoring Chris Prynoski

Guest of Honor Chris Prynoski – Titmouse Inc animator, writer, director, and co-founder – hosted a panel Q&A with several VIPs from throughout the day, showcased a short program of his best work, and kicked off the rocking after-party.
