First official poster for How To Train Your Dragon The Hidden World

We’re one dragon-sized step closer to the final installment of DreamWorks’ How To Train Your Dragon trilogy: How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World! DreamWorks has revealed an official poster for the highly anticipated spring 2019 film, as well as released a press sheet providing a synopsis of the upcoming adventure:

“What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic trilogy spanning their lives. In this next chapter, Hiccup and Toothless will finally discover their true destinies: the village chief as ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, and the dragon as leader of his own kind.  As both ascend, the darkest threat they’ve yet faced—as well as the appearance of a female Night Fury—will test the bonds of their relationship like never before.”

That summary alludes to a possible time jump, which also happened for How To Train Your Dragon 2, and is supported by the seemingly older character designs unveiled by Universal and DreamWorks at the 2018 Licensing Expo. The image collage below is from a series of promotional photos taken at the expo, posted on The Inner Circle Game Network, but the designs have already been unofficially making the rounds online.

DreamWorks also announced that the first trailer for How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World will debut next week, so hopefully we will get plenty more images of Hiccup, Toothless, and the rest of the gang soon!

Series director Dean DeBlois returns for the third installment, with Brad Lewis (Ratatouille, ANTZ) and series producer Bonnie Arnold (Toy Story, Tarzan) producing.

What do you think of the poster and synopsis for How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World? Are you excited to see Hiccup and Toothless together on the big screen one last time?
