Holy announcement, Batman! Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced earlier this week via a press release that Batman: The Animated Series will finally be making its much anticipated debut on Blu-ray format in late 2018. Plans were announced at the New York Comic Con panel on Sunday and caps off the latest in a number of news pieces commemorating the series’ 25th anniversary.
Fans have long clamored for the series to be released in a high definition format and the release of the underrated classic Batman: Mask of the Phantasm earlier this summer on Blu-ray had many wondering if the flagship series would follow shortly. There is currently no word on whether Batman: The Animated Series will be released as a complete series set, individual “volumes” (following the same format as the previous DVD release), or both. For those who can’t wait until next year you can stream the entire series on Amazon on Prime Video here.
Are you excited about this integral chapter in the Batman canon coming out soon? Should this pave the way for more OG DC Animated Universe series to follow suit? Sound off in the comments below!
