Given the success of Disney’s Moana, it’s no surprise to anyone that the talents of composer/writer/actor Lin-Manuel Miranda are sought by other film companies. According to Variety, Miranda has been hired to write songs for a forthcoming animated musical film entitled Vivo.

The film is said to focus on a music-loving monkey and the journey he takes “from Havana to Miami to fulfill his destiny.” The film is being developed by Sony Animation, although it has its start at DreamWorks Animation.

Besides Miranda, a number of other people have joined the film’s crew as well, including Kirk DeMicco (Space Chimps, The Croods) as director, Lisa Stewart (Monsters vs. Aliens, Turbo) as producer, Laurence Mark (I, Robot, Dreamgirls) as executive producer, and Quiara Alegría Hudes (In the Heights) as scriptwriter. Vivo is set to hit theaters December 18, 2020.

Are you excited for this Sony Animation film, Vivo? How do you feel about Lin-Manuel Miranda writing the songs for the film? Let us know in the comments below!
