Ah yes, the sequel to the film that was only liked by a few people (once again, hello Mason). The sequel that I’m sure those four people are dying to see. Well, I hope you’re ready to get excited, because we got something a little special to show you (everyone else…prepare to feel numb).
Last week, the world was graced with the presence of the first two teaser posters for The Nut Job 2, both of them were unveiled on Toonbox Entertainment’s Twitter handle.
This is the first one, featuring the three main characters:
The second one features the expanded cast, with the villains in the background:
As we’ve told you before, The Nut Job 2 will do a complete 180 from the first film’s heist plot, with the animals now trying to save Liberty Park from a crooked mayor who threatens to bulldoze the park and put an amusement park in its place.
Cal Brunker (Escape from Planet Earth) will take over directing duties from Peter Lepeniotis, who will return to co-write the film with Brunker, Scott Bindley, Bob Barlen, and Danial Woo. Will Arnett, Gabriel Iglesias, Juff Dunham, Katherine Heigl, and Maya Rudolph are expected to reprise their roles and Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me franchise, The Angry Birds Movie) will compose the score.
Again, this is a sequel that nobody (well, almost nobody) asked for. So the one thing everyone can hope for is that Brunker and his team of writers can somehow turn out a better movie than the last one. But then, there’s a lot of hands on the script, and its entirely possible that those hands could turn out something worse.
The Nut Job 2 will land in theaters on May 19, 2017.
What do you think? If you’re one of those four people, do these posters have you excited for The Nut Job 2?
