In a bid to differentiate themselves from the growing pack, 3QU is loading up its first film Charming with plenty of musical talent. If you don’t believe me, I give you this recent news.
Animation Magazine broke the news that Australian singer/songwriter and five-time Grammy nominee Sia will write two songs for the film. Also cast in the role of a character named Half Oracle, Sia will perform the song “Balladino” while Demi Lovato (Lenore) will perform the second song “Magical.”
Sia won’t be the only one. Patrick Stump, the lead singer for Fall Out Boy, will write and co-produce the song “Trophy Boy,” which will be performed by Avril Lavigne (Snow White), Ashley Tisdale (Cinderella), and G.E.M. (Sleeping Beauty). This wouldn’t be the first time that he contributed music to an animated film. With Fall Out Boy, he co-wrote and performed “Immortals” for Disney’s Big Hero 6.
The film is written and directed by Ross Venokur. It’s centered around a twist on fairy tale convention that involves all three princesses finding that they are somehow engaged to the same man: Prince Charming (Wilmer Valderrama).
Production is underway at Cinesite’s animation facility in Montreal.
Here’s the official synopsis from 3QU’s website:
‘Charming’ is an irreverent animated comedy about a young Prince with an irresistible appeal and one kick-ass maiden who wants him only for his money. Cursed as a child, Prince Philip Charming compulsively proposes to every woman he encounters, leaving a trail of lovesick ladies and scorned lovers to wreak vengeful havoc on the Kingdom. Ultimately, Prince Philip’s exasperated father, King Charming, gives the young Prince an ultimatum… Find a true, true-love before his 21st Birthday or lose all claim to the throne.
The film lands in theaters on an unspecified 2016 release date.
What do you think? Any thoughts on the development? Are you looking forward to Charming?
