Dragons RTTE Death Song

As I write this, we are 10 days away (two weeks) from the Netflix premiere of DreamWorks Dragons: Race to the Edge. As we come further down the wire, new clips and information start to present themselves. A week ago, it was the Snow Wraith. This week, it’s the Death Song.

First, we have a new clip from Race to the Edge that gives us our first look at the Death Song in motion:

According to the official website’s Dragonpedia, the Death Song is a Mystery Class dragon that takes a very different approach to hunting down its prey. It uses its looks and a siren-like melody to lure its prey. Rather than using fire like other dragons, the Death Song spews an amber-like substance that hardens into a cocoon around the victim and leaves it powerless. The substance can only be melted by fire. The Death Song’s main weakness are the Thunderdrums, who are mostly immune to the Death Song’s melody (by way of poor hearing).

The Death Song normally goes after dragons (as seen in the clip above), but it will also go after any humans that make their way into its habitat.

The Death Song an incredible looking dragon, probably one of the best looking TV dragons I’ve seen on the show so far. It will be interesting to see how the Dragon Riders will try to interact with it (as Thornado, a Thunderdrum from previous seasons, is no longer with Stoick).

Dragons: Race to the Edge premieres exclusively for Netflix on June 26. Stay tuned for next Monday, when we will have a pre-show discussion on Race to the Edge before the premiere and the start of The DRAGONS TV Recap on July 6.

What do you think? Do you have any thoughts on the new Race to the Edge clip or on the new dragon?
