Brad Bird Dispels Rumors Surrounding the Plot of ‘The Incredibles 2’: “Just relax.”

Last weekend, we broke the news that Brad Bird plans to make The Incredibles 2 his next film. He went so far to say that he is already actively working on the script.

Of course, this has re-ignited a firestorm of rumors about the film’s plot. These rumors have ranged to everything from the typical speculations (the sequel potentially shifting focus to the kids) to the flat-out nonsensical (the sequel being a ‘reboot,’ somehow).

While I imagine that these rumors aren’t anything particularly new for Bird (rumors of The Incredibles 2 itself have persisted ever since the first movie), he wasn’t exactly pleased with the silliness of it all and promptly took to his twitter handle to set the record straight and clear:

As we pointed out in our last article covering the film, Brad has only just begun to write the script for The Incredibles 2. Chances are that we won’t know what he has in store until he and his crew are farther into the production process. Adding to this, the only thing we’ve been told about the story is this: “I had a lot of ideas for the original Incredibles that I didn’t get a chance to use, that I like. I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit and there wasn’t enough time in Incredibles. There are new ideas I have, and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie.”

So if there’s anyone out there who has a very clear idea of what the film will be about, it’s Brad Bird. And, while rumors are bound to germinate no matter what, the best option now is to be patient until we know exactly what Brad has up his sleeve.
