We have another update on what is sure to be an award magnet for 2015.
Courtesy of Cartoon Brew, the first English-language trailer (billed as an international trailer) for Mark Osborne’s adaptation of The Little Prince finally hit the web.
You can watch the trailer down below:
Also released was a new poster for the film:
The trailer shows more of the storyline involving The Girl (Mackenzie Foy) and her fateful encounter with The Aviator as an old man (Jeff Bridges). We also get to hear Riley Osborne as The Little Prince and James Franco as The Fox.
Thus far, the results look great for the first animated feature film adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s 1943 novel. There was a fair amount of debate over whether or not the film’s ‘wraparound’ story is needed, but for a novel as complex as The Little Prince it may help to contextualize the deeper themes of the novel.
The English-language voice cast for the film will consist of Marion Collitard (The Rose), Rachel McAdams (The Mother), James Franco (The Fox), Jeff Bridges (The Aviator as an old man), Paul Rudd (The Aviator as a young man?), Benicio del Toro (The Snake), Ricky Gervais (The Conceited Man), Paul Giamatti (The Teacher), Albert Brooks (The Businessman), Bud Cort as The King, with Mackenzie Foy as The Girl, and newcomer Riley Osborne as The Little Prince.
The Little Prince will premiere with an out-of-competition screening at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, followed by a July 29, 2015 release in France. The film is planned for an unknown Fall 2015 release in the US.
What do you think? Any thoughts on the trailer? Does it make you more excited for The Little Prince?
