Last November we first reported on an upcoming indie animated film titled Animal Crackers. Now, we bring you an update on an edition to the film’s cast.
Variety reported that Emily Blunt is the latest actor to join the voice cast for the film. That cast includes Ian McKellen, Sylvester Stallone, Danny DeVito, Patrick Warburton, John Krasinski, Raven-Symone, Tara Strong, with Harvey Fierstein, and James Arnold Taylor.
Emily will provide the voice of Zoe Huntington, the wife of Owen Huntington (played by Krasinski). The plot revolves around their family life being thrown for a loop when they inherit a rundown circus and a mysterious box of animal crackers that turns anyone who eats the crackers into an animal.
According to another source, Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) was originally supposed to voice the character. However, a scheduling conflict prevented her from jumping on board.
Co-directed by Scott Christian Sava and Tony Bancroft from a script by Sava and Dean Lorey, the film is produced by Blue Dream Studios (a company founded by Sava) and is financially backed by Beijing Wen Hua Dongrun Investment Co. and the China Film Group Corporation.
This film will serve as Scott Christian Sava’s directorial debut. Prior to Animal Crackers, he was an animator and designer (as well as a comics writer and artist).
Studio recording sessions for the film have already begun, as confirmed by Sava on the official Animal Crackers Facebook page in January.
Animal Crackers will bow in theaters sometime in late 2016.
