The last time we reported about William Joyce’s upcoming installments in his Guardians of Childhood series, we reported about a projected release date for an upcoming picture book centered on fan-favorite character Jack Frost. Now we bring a new round of exciting updates about the book’s release date and more.
First off, the official cover art for the Jack Frost picture book has finally surfaced online (courtesy of Simon & Schuster):
If the art looks similar in any way, it’s because it’s the same art piece that was first showcased at a Society of Illustrators exhibit last year, seemingly re-purposed as an official book cover. Apparently there was also an alternative cover for the book, but that got taken down by Simon & Schuster for unknown reasons.
And where we were originally given a vague ‘Fall 2015’ release window, we now have an actual month and day locked down for the book: October 27, 2015!
Lastly, we have a couple images to show from the book.
This one isn’t exactly new, per say (it’s actually been floating around the internet for a while now), but this is an illustration showing Jack Frost flying through the night sky (a familiar visual for anyone who’s seen Rise of the Guardians):
The next image is even more interesting. Here we have what looks like a scene depicting a battle between Pitch and a small but illuminated figure who appears to be Nightlight:
For those who aren’t familiar, Nightlight is one of the original guardians in the chapter books who appears to have a connection with Jack Frost (one that will hopefully be revealed in the book itself).
Clocking in at 56 pages, the book is currently available for pre-order (in both hardcover and eBook format) on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other retailers. The book will be in stores everywhere on October 27, 2015.
What do you think? Are you interested in the book? Are you a fan of Jack Frost?
