To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rankin/Bass’ Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, CBS has put together a commercial advertising the network’s most popular shows and the annual telecast of the stop-motion TV special.
The full advertisement, as shown in the video below, show familiar faces all wishing Rudolph and Sam the Snowman a happy anniversary. The cameos include NCIS‘s Pauley Perrette and Michael Weatherly, NCIS: LA’s LL Cool J and Chris O’Donneell, Mike and Molly‘s Billy Gardell, Two and a Half Men‘s Jon Cryer, The Big Bang Theory‘s Mayim Bialik, Melissa Raunch and Kunal Nayyar, and finally Elementary’s Lucy Liu. The commercial concludes with a ‘happy holidays’ from CBS to the viewers.
The animation was made by BENT Image Lab who are notably known for their stop-motion work. Bent have already previously used the charming character of Rudolph for their commercials, including Aflac insurance company in 2007 and a Christmas campaign for search engine Bing in 2011.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer airs on CBS on Tuesday 9th December at 8pm.
What do you think of the commercial? Will you be watching Rudolph again this Christmas?
