It looks like Rainbow Brite is the latest 80s television brand to make a comeback in recent years. Following the success of Hasbro’s successful reboot of the My Little Pony brand, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, subscription video service Feeln is restoring and modernizing Rainbow Brite for today’s viewers.
The new series will star Emily Osment (Hannah Montana) as Rainbow Brite, a magical girl who must protect her home Rainbowland from dark and evil forces. “Being cast as the voice of Rainbow Brite for the relaunch of this iconic show is truly an honor,” Osment said on voicing the titular character. “I look forward to connecting with the audience, old and new, and going on this exciting adventure together.”
Joining Emily Osment is Molly Ringwald (The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink) as the series’ villain, The Dark Princess.
You can start watching Rainbow Brite on Feeln beginning November 6, with three episodes available weekly.
