According to ComingSoon, the new live-action/animated film based on Clifford the Big Red Dog has gotten a theatrical release date of April 8, 2016. Based on the children’s book series written by Norman Bridwell, the new Clifford the Big Red Dog movie will be released by Universal Pictures.
This will not be the first time that Clifford will be adapted in film or TV form. In 1988, an educational VHS series was released entitled Clifford’s Fun with... that had Clifford learn different topics such as letters, numbers, and other learning topics.
Then, from 2000 to 2004, PBS Kids aired the TV series, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Clifford’s Puppy Days. Finally, there was also a theatrically-released animated film released in 2004 called Clifford’s Really Big Movie. It received mixed reviews and made a total gross of $3 million over a $70,000 budget. But this upcoming Clifford the Big Red Dog movie will be the first one that’s not fully animated.
Clifford the Big Red Dog hits theaters April 8, 2016.
