Tim Burton: The Master of All Things…Different

Tim-Burton-Feature-Image

The countdown is over and Halloween is finally here, and what better way to celebrate than with the king of the delightfully creepy, the pleasantly scary, and the wonderfully weird: Tim Burton. From director to artist to visionary, Tim Burton has flipped the film and animation industries on their ends with his trademark storytelling. As a kid I would quote Burton’s short film Vincent in its entirety, and although I’m sure it freaked my parents out a bit, it was a normal day in the life of a Burton fanatic. As you wait out the commercial break of ABC Family’s 13 Days of Halloween movie marathon (If you’re not serious about this movie marathon, I’m afraid you’re doing Halloween wrong.), feel free to read on about why Tim Burton is such a top notch gent in my book.

His concept art is so unique and instantly identifiable.

I’m pretty sure getting too close to any of Burton’s sketches may make them look a tad bit like Jackson Pollock paintings.

Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and composer Danny Elfman make the ultimate dream team.

(Included in this photo is also Mike Johnson, an incredible contribution to the film industry as well.)

They’re like The Avengers of the film industry. I mean Johnny Depp almost has the Tony Stark mustache down already.

Victor’s piano solo, from The Corpse Bride, has been on repeat since September.

He’s got a thing for black and white stripes.

What can I say, they are rather slimming.

He attended California Institute of the Arts, pictured here with cinema-superstars John Lasseter and Brad Bird.

Could you imagine passing notes in the back of the room with these guys?

Some of his characters have the wildest shoe-size to head-circumference ratio I’ve ever seen.

Animators literally have to bolt these guys down to the set to keep them from falling over.

Honestly, I’m a pretty big fan of his philosophy.

I’ll probably crochet this on a pillow someday. Once I learn to crochet.

So as I continue binge watching Halloween movies while they last, I hope you all have a safe, happy, and slightly spooky Halloween!
