No matter how many times you’ve seen a show-stopper like The Incredibles, it’s tough to catch every detail with just a casual “movie night” type of viewing.

Even the most intense of moviegoers, (the ones that press pause to see what kind of aftershave Frozone uses, the ones that watch a scene six times over in slow motion just to see Mrs. Incredible’s transformation from a human being to a human parachute…the ones you probably don’t invite to movie night for these very reasons) have a tough time spotting every hidden treasure the Pixar animation team tucks into their work. While some are more obvious than others, these “Easter Eggs” are some of my favorites.

Syndrome holds Mr. Incredible in cell 13 of block A1, an allusion to animation classroom A113 at California Institute of the Arts, alma mater of John Lasseter himself!

(This is also the one scene in the movie where Mrs. Incredible and Spider Man’s powers are apparently interchangeable.)

The iconic Luxo ball makes an appearance during playtime with Jack-Jack!

“I know I just had that ball. Where did I put it. WHERE?”

When scenes required Dash’s character to sound out of breath, director Brad Bird had the voice actor Spencer Fox run laps around the studio.

” ‘Bout five laps should do it, Spence!”

A recognizable amount of Syndrome’s facial features are based off of Brad Bird.

“That’s a pretty good lookin’ Supervillain if I do say so myself!”

The voice of the boy perched on his tricycle in Mr. Incredible’s driveway was voiced by Brad Bird’s son. (That was my last Brad Bird fact I promise. We’re just really fond of Mr. Bird around here.)

I bet “Bring Your Kid to Work” day is a blast when your dad works at Pixar Studios.

The code to Edna’s lab is 6395742.

Although I still don’t know what the code is to call off the arsenal that Edna’s got tucked away in her ceiling tiles…

Now that you’ve been thoroughly inspired to go re-watch The Incredibles with all of your new fancy-pants movie trivia, be sure to check out the Animation Addicts Podcast  episode 49 covering the film tomorrow!
