my-little-pony-equestria-girls-blu-ray-cover-case-artEarlier this summer, Hasbro released the first feature-length movie to its wildly popular My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (MLPFIS) televisions series titled My Little Pony Equestria Girls. The film received a very limited released, but luckily, Pony fans won’t have to wait very long because the film is set coming to Blu-ray and DVD on this August.

In My Little Ponies Equestria Girls, everyone’s favorite Ponyville ponies go on a special mission for Princess Celestria to discover the human world. Twiliight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy and the rest of the gang end up in a high school and must not only figure out how to survive high school…but also do it as humans!

Let’s be honest, everyone knows that Equestria Girls is a blatant attempt by Hasbro to create a new popular spin-off toy line. And who can blame them? The whole purpose of MLPFIS was to revamp the My Little Pony brand and introduce it to a new generation, which they obviously succeeded at a bit too well (see: bronies). I, like many other fans, would have preferred to see a movie set in the pony world, but you take what you can get.

Personally, I haven’t seen Equestria Girls, but having recently watched the entire MLPFIS series, I am intrigued to see how this concept plays out (and, ultimately, if it takes off). Check out the trailer below to

My Little Ponies Equestria Girls will be released August 6, 2013 as a two-disc Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy set. It is available for pre-order now.

What are your thoughts on My Little Pony Equestria Girls? Will you buy the Blu-ray when it comes out?
