Popular children’s picture book “The Fearsome Beastie” by Giles Paley-Phillips has been given the green light to be adapted into a CGI animated short.
The book will be adapted by Slurpy Studios and co-directed by Katie Steed and John Hunt, in collaboration with the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).
UCA is a specialist art and design university in England with a great track record. They have had recent BAFTA success and have produced four Oscar winners to date.
“The Fearsome Beastie” tells the story of a “fearsome beastie” who eats the town’s children when he’s hungry. Until little Pete escapes and gets the one person who can save the day. His granny!
“The Fearsome Beastie” has had much success since its release in 2011. It has won the People’s Book Prize in 2012 and has been shortlisted for many awards, including the Heart of Hawick Children’s Book Prize 2013.
The film will be completed by the summer of 2014 and will be released on the festival circuit soon after. Judging by UCA’s impressive track record and the talented, up-and-coming directors, this beloved book is in good hands.
