‘Toy Story of Terror’ Confirmed, New Image Released

Woody and Buzz will make the leap to television this Halloween as Toy Story of Terror debuts on ABC.

Pixar tweeted a first-look image from the project today. It’s the first time the studio has spoken of the new adventure since it was initially announced in October 2012. Here’s the synopsis that Animation World Network gave then:

What starts out as a fun road trip for the Toy Story gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in this Toy Story of Terror.

Toy Story of Terror was originally billed as a half-hour television special, but today’s tweet describes it as “a new animated short,” which could indicate a shorter length.

Additionally, while nothing has been stated by Pixar about future TV projects beyond Toy Story of Terror, it was about this time last year that Big Screen Animation unearthed the news that two television specials were in the works for Woody and Buzz: one in October 2013 (Toy Story of Terror) and another in spring 2014 (which hasn’t been spoken of yet).
