Disney Infinity Video Game Brings Disney & Pixar Characters Into One Universe

Disney Infinity Cast PhotoDisney Infinity, Disney’s most innovative and ambitious-sounding video game to date, was announced in January, and was originally to be released in June. Now, it has been reported that the game will not be released until August 18th (*sob*).

According to Wall Street analyst, Mike Morris, this could cost Disney $30 million in their third quarter income. The animation company of the world however, doesn’t seem too concerned with the delayed date. John Pleasants, co-president of Disney interactive, stated that they “moved the launch date for Disney Infinity to August 18 to capitalize on the critical fall retail season.”

So… Back to school shopping? Has this become a “fall retail season”? No way to better start off a school year than with video games! But I digress…

Originally, the release date would coincide with that of Monsters University, and would feature Mike and Sully in order to garner more attention for both the movie and the game. While the game will still feature our beloved monsters, there’s one advertising ploy gone now.

All I can say is, if Disney is pushing back the release date, this game better be awesome. That means more characters, and more epic-ness in general. I really want to be Mulan riding Maximus with Merida’s bow as a weapon…

This game is said to include characters and realms from a host of different Disney and Pixar movies. It is to have a retail price of $75, but here’s hoping that there will be cheaper apps for smartphones!
