Santa-Paws-2-Blu-Ray-CoverWanting to learn the powers of Santa’s magic crystals, the Santa Pups stow away with Mrs. Claus as she travels to the town of Pineville, USA to chose a new Christmas Ambassador.  Everyone in the town is ready to celebrate the happy holiday but when the pups start granting Christmas wishes to the children everything goes wrong. What are they to do when all the Christmas spirit runs out?! Now, with the help of some new friends, the pups and Mrs. Claus have to hurry to save Christmas.

The Film: ★★
Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups is the sequel to the 2010 film The Search for Santa Paws. The film features a new story from the creators of the Buddies movies and uses the notable voice talents of Richard Kind (The Producers and A Bug’s Life) and acting talents of Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld) as the head elf, Eli and takes a musical twist with a feel good message.

It’s very much geared toward kids, ages 3-8. If you don’t expect more than that then you wont be disappointed. The movie has singing, some dancing and even group musical numbers marching down the street. It has it’s redeemable points. Little girls, specifically, who watch this will have their singing dreams spurred on as the cute Kaitlyn Maher (America’s Got Talent 2008) sings her little heart out (not a bad little singer either). However, on the side of ridiculous, it does show us where we as pet owners need to back off.. Case and point: dogs should never be made to wear shoes…it’s just humiliating.

The Features: ★
The features are notably weak; however, it was a direct-to-video sequel so my hopes weren’t high. There’s the “Santa Pups Music Mash-Up”, which left me wondering if they were trying to do a pseudo sing-along without the bouncing ball or just a remix of the original songs in the film either way it was a recap of the main scenes.  There was also a Blooper Scooper, which essentially is just your standard blooper reel with a funny name.

Final Thoughts:
Unless you fit in the above noted ages I’d say you can skip it. Buy it at Amazon.com.

Rent/Skip/Buy It: Rent It.
