home-almost-home-short-stillDreamWorks shall be releasing it’s thirtieth feature animated film, Home, on November 26th, 2014. To promote this upcoming movie, they released a short called Almost Home exclusively on BuzzFeed this morning. The short is also playing in front of Mr. Peabody and Sherman as well.

The synopsis for Home reads as follows:

The intergalactic adventure revolves around an overly optimistic (yet inept) alien race called the Boov, who invade Earth in an attempt to escape their mortal enemy, hoping to make this hiding spot their new home. But one resourceful girl named Tip (Rihanna) escapes the Boov’s relocation efforts and teams up with a banished Boov named Oh (Jim Parsons) to save the race after he accidentally clues the bad guys into the Boov’s whereabouts.

What do you think of Almost Home as seen on BuzzFeed? Does it make you excited for this film?

I don’t want to be critical to this movie…but why are the character models so ugly? I felt like I was watching something on the lines of Free Birds (not that I don’t like that movie, it’s just unpolished).

Looks like they realized how effective the Olaf and Sven short was to promote Frozen!

    Boov Death Song! XD

“Someone please discover a planet I can discover.” Haha! Maybe if I haven’t spent all my money watching Big Hero 6 multiple times I’ll check this one out. ;)

I think it’s cute, I like the animation and character design and this short defnietly makes me excited to learn more about the movie.

      Same with me.

I personally thought that this was a creative idea (I actually prefer this to the Frozen short released because you actually get an idea as to what the movie is about), but something about the King guy just felt exactly like King Julian from Madagascar…

The animation of the scenery looked stunning- especially with the space shots in the beginning. I think the character design of the aliens could be better, but who knows? maybe it will grow on me. Also, I can just sense the jokes about modern human culture coming on and that has the potential to be hilarious.

Even though I don’t usually like a star studded voice cast, I have got to say that I have been feeling a bit deprived of Steve Martin lately. This will help fill the gap.

it looks pretty good actually. I really like the character design and the background design. BUT, the rendering is bad in comparison. THEY LOOK LIKE PLASTIC DOLLS? maybe becoz of dreamworks’ loss of money? who knows, but I might check this out.

The animation looks like Escape from Planet Earth and I heard that movie didn’t even get nominated for an Annie! But the clip made me laugh a little and their legs got me hipnitized a bit

Just wanted to give you a heads up, Big Hero 6 is categorized as Reel FX on your animation calendar. Might want to fix that.

Well I did get a few chuckles from the little short that was previewed in front of Peabody and Sherman. But I don’t think I’ll be seeing this. This is one movie I plan on avoiding.

When I saw Mr. Peabody and Sherman I had no idea that this short was playing before it and I was really confused. I thought that I had stepped into the wrong movie theater and I wasn’t the only one. Everyone around me was asking “What’s this?” or “This isn’t Peabody and Sherman right?” If there had been an opening title card it would have been a lot easier to understand what was going on.
