The short film Bake Off from Disneytoon Studios will debut fall 2013 starring Tinker Bell and her fairy friends. The news comes buried within the same press release that told us Sleeping Beauty will head to Blu-ray fall 2014.
For now, that’s all Disney has said. No plot (though the title seems self-explanatory), no exact release date, and not even how the short will be viewed. A theatrical release seems unlikely unless the short is attached to Disneytoon’s Planes in August, but then if it was, it seems like the press release would have said that.
Also to be considered is the length. Is this an actual, traditional, 6-minute short film, or by “short” does Disney mean another 22-minute television special like Pixie Hollow Games, which premiered via Disney Channel in 2011?
Whatever the case may be for Bake Off, it continues the steady stream of the successful Disney Fairies franchise that launched in 2008. Another feature-length film from Disneytoon, Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy (previously titled Quest for the Queen), is due for a direct-to-Blu-ray debut in spring 2014.
