Dragon's-Lair-Comic-Dirk-DaphneFans of the 1980’s laser disc series, Dragon’s Lair, have reason to cheer as Don Bluth and Zuuka comics just released the Dragon’s Lair comics in the Apple app store.

The comics don’t feature any new issues, but rather are digitized versions of the comics originally published by Arcana Comics. The new versions showcase the original artwork by Bluth, but are more interactive by adding music and sound effects.

The first issue is free through the Dragon’s Lair app, with issues 2-6 available for $1.99 each.

It seems Don Bluth projects are few and far between these days, but Bluth mentioned in the USA TODAY article that he and Goldman hope to see an animated Dragon’s Lair film on screen by the end of 2013. Looks like we may be able to see Dirk the Daring, Princess Daphne and Singe the Dragon back in action sooner than we thought!

What do you think? Are you going to download the Dragon’s Lair digital comics? Also, did Bluth spill the beans and an animated version of Dragon’s Lair is already in development? Let us know in the comments below.
