Here’s one that might have passed you by, an animated movie titled The Wild Life about the character Robinson Crusoe set to be released the end of summer in 2016.

The Wild Life is a 3D computer-animated adventure comedy film from Belgian-French studio NWave Pictures. The studio that gave us Fly Me to the Moon, A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventures and The House of Magic. The movie will be distributed by Lionsgate/Summit Entertainment.

The story follows a parrot, named Mak, who resides on an exotic island with his animal friends. One day a stranger washes up on the beach. His name is Robinson Crusoe. Wanderlust bird Mak sees Crusoe as his ticket off the island to explore new lands. Likewise, Crusoe needs Mak’s help to survive the island. Slowly but surely, they all start living together in harmony, until one day, their comfortable life is overturned by two savage cats that wish to take control of the island and a battle ensues.

As you can tell from the zany plot description, this story bears little resemblance to Daniel Defoe’s classic novel Robinson Crusoe. Though, interestingly, the movie’s title is Robinson Crusoe in Europe. Will this be another case of Norm of the North where parents go along to keep their little darlings quiet for 90 minutes? Or does The Wild Life have more to offer us? Decide for yourself by checking out the trailer below:

The Wild Life will set sail in cinemas 9 September across the US.

What do you think of the trailer for The Wild Life? Is it the next Norm of the North?
