Back in October, One Animation released a trailer heralding the arrival of its new ground-breaking animated 3D TV series The Insectibles.
This is a story we’ve been meaning to write about for a while because it’s an interesting TV concept, backed by beautiful cinema-quality animation. The story follows the adventures of a young boy named Zak, a crazy old man Gramps, and three bio-mechanically enhanced insects as they search to find pieces of the ‘Shrinkinator’ – the crazy invention that shrunk our heroes before exploding during a failed testing phase. The trio will have to find the missing pieces and fix the Shrinkinator, all the while evading the clutches of a maniacal Mosquito, her devious daughter and a whole host of evil underlings.
The CEO of One Animation Sashim Parmanand commented on The Insectibles‘ quality saying, “We’re committed to developing TV and film content for animation fans around the world who want the highest quality CGI combined with classically brilliant story-telling and comedic endearing characters.”
The release of this trailer back in October was followed by the animation house’s announcement at MIPCOM that it will be co-producing The Insectibles full series with ZDF, one of Europe’s largest broadcasters as well as premiering the series on free-to-air German channel KiKA. Further announcements including dates and channel locations for global release of the full series will follow in 2015.
