After getting much information regarding the cast for Disney’s upcoming film based on The Jungle Book, we’re finally getting more information regarding Warner Bros.’ upcoming film based on The Jungle Book from sites including Hollywood Reporter.
Set for an October 21, 2016 release, the Warner Bros.’ film is currently entitled The Jungle Book: Origins and will contain a mixture of live-action, CG animation, and motion-capture technology. The film is being directed by Andy Serkis (of motion-capture fame) who is also set to play the role of Baloo the bear in the film.
Other announced cast members include Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan the tiger and main antagonist, Christian Bale as Bagheera the panther, Cate Blanchett as Kaa the python, Tom Hollander as Tabacqui a jackal, Peter Mullan as Akela the wolf, Naomie Harris as Nisha a wolf, and Eddie Marsan as Vihaan, Nisha’s mate. The cast is rounded up with child actor, Rohan Chand, as the main character, Mowgli.
