To kick off our new Indie-mation section on the website which focuses on independently produced animated films, we bring you an article on the 3-D short film, Foxed!
Foxed! will be the kind of film you remember for a long time, the kind of film that will invade your thoughts unexpectedly, making you feel both pained and privileged for having watched such a film. Written (and co-directed) by Nev Bezaire, directed by James Stewart and produced by Geneva Film Co., Foxed! weaves a cautionary tale of child labor, parental control, and the ever evident differences between parents and their children.
Be astonished by what lurks in plain sight. The sinister 3D stop-motion world of Foxed! reveals young Emily toiling in mines beneath her house, imprisoned by foxes who have duped her entire town into believing children can be replaced. Teeming with shadow and light, this grown up animation unfolds to explore themes of oppression and human rights in a riveting package that creates questions and leaves the audience anxious for more.
If you happen to be one of the very privileged attending San Diego Comic Con, you will be delighted to know that the film will be screened on Friday July 15th from 11:40am-12:00pm as part of the Comic-Con International Film Festival (CCI-IFF).
What’s really unique and interesting about Foxed! is that, like Coraline, it is a stop-motion animated film in Stereoscopic 3D, and though this short only shows Emily’s perspective, it plays part of a much wider world that will be explored in a feature that will be released later on.
After making a successful go at the festival circuit, Foxed! will be released on Video On Demand in early September but in the meantime you can take a look at the fascinating trailer below.
