Frozen fans, your moment is finally here. Disney finally unleashed the first official teaser trailer for this November’s hugely anticipated sequel, Frozen 2.
Frozen 2 Trailer
From the first moments of the Frozen 2 trailer, we get a darker, more mysterious vibe compared to the first film. We see Elsa, looking determined and sombre as she makes multiple attempts to make her way across an unforgiving sea. We then see quick glimpses of Anna looking in wonder at some mysterious ice crystals outside the palace, Kristoff riding Sven along with several other reindeer, and Anna making her way alone across a desolate, rocky area. Elsa also protects Olaf from some mysterious pink flames.
We get a short glimpse at a mysterious new character, as well as a lot of autumn-themed footage. Finally, the camera pans out to our main cast – Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf the snowman and Sven, looking over at a golden-brown valley that’s bathed in autumn colors. A mysterious autumn leaf spells out the Frozen ‘II’ title, but we’re not done – a spectacular final scene sees Anna grab Kristoff’s sword (he has a sword!) and sprint towards the camera while everything fades to black.
This trailer notably features a different, darker take on the characters we know and love, as well as slightly different looks for them all. It’s clear the animation is even more lavish and spellbinding this time around, and the story looks set to be rather serious, mature and powerful in its handling of the characters. In short – we can’t wait.
Frozen 2 is directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, with screenwriting credits going to Jennifer Lee and Allison Schroeder. It brings back the original voice cast, including Idina Menzel (Elsa), Kristen Bell (Anna), Josh Gad (Olaf), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) as well as Sterling K. Brown and Evan Rachel Wood in undisclosed roles. It wouldn’t be a Frozen adventure without music – and Robert and Kristen Anderson-Lopez will return with several new songs. Mark November 22, 2019 on your calendars – that’s when we go back to Arendelle (and beyond).
