Looking for a new scary animated feature to watch this Halloween season? Well, you might find what you’re looking for in the new animated film, Extraordinary Tales, which opens today in select theaters across the country.

As the trailer demonstrates, Extraordinary Tales is an animated anthology film; it’s a film composed of multiple animated segments. In this case, the segments are all based on five short stories written by Edgar Allan Poe, whose writings are known to have quite a macabre twist to them. Those short stories, in particular, are “The Fall of the House of Usher,” “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar,” “The Masque of the Red Death,” and “The Pit and the Pendulum.”

The segments seem to be primarily computer-animated, but each segment has its own particular style. While some people may complain about the “non-rendered” look of the segments, others may see it as a sort of stylistic choice for the film. If none of this sells you on the film yet, it also features the voices of the late Sir Christopher Lee, Bela Lugosi, Julian Sands, Roger Corman, and Guillermo del Toro.

Are you interested in this film? How do you feel about the source material and the voice cast? Do you think it will become a classic people will watch every year around Halloween? Let us know in the comments below!
