Play-Doh

That’s right folks: 20th Century Fox and Hasbro are teaming up to create a movie based on the beloved modeling clay of our childhood, Play-Doh. Paul Feig, director of Bridesmaids and the upcoming Peanuts Movie, is set to direct the project.

The success of The LEGO Movie is probably what allowed this film to transpire. Of late, Hasbro has pushed films based off of its classic toys. These films include the fifth Transformers and third G.I. Joe movies due in 2016. Creating a film based around another childhood toy is probably the next step in order for Hasbro to ride on the success of The LEGO Movie.

This concept seems strange and very little is known about the project. Will it be animated or claymation? There aren’t characters associated with the Play-Doh world, so will we have have blobs of clay talking to each other?

Despite the rather unintuitive nature of the film, if done right, it could shape up (no pun intended) to be as interesting and creative as The LEGO Movie.

Only time will tell.

What do you think of this idea? Do you think that Play-Doh will translate well to a movie?
