Wes Anderson’s Next Project May Be a Stop-Motion Feature

After the success of his latest live-action film The Grand Budapest Hotel, director Wes Anderson revealed at the Lisbon and Estoril Film Festival last weekend that his next project could possible be a stop-motion film.

Anderson is no stranger to stop-motion having worked with Coraline director Henry Selick for the animated segments in the 2004 movie The Life Aquatic of Steve Zissou. Anderson then went on to direct his own full-length stop-motion feature Fantastic Mr. Fox in 2009, which was nominated for an Academy Award.

The story is currently unknown, but it was reported at the festival’s Q&A that the film may be divided into episodes. There will most likely be cameos from his usual cast, such as Bill Murray and Owen Wilson, and they’ll be plenty of that niche quirky humor we’ve all come to expect from Anderson.
