Paul-McCartney-Feature-Image-High-in-the-Clouds

Sir Paul McCartney is a household name when it comes to music, but in 2005 he broadened his horizons with the publishing of a children’s book, High in the Clouds. The book centers around an orphaned squirrel (appropriately named ‘Wirrel’) who loses his home to urban development, and the animated adaptation is set to hit theaters as a 3D release in 2015. The book sends a very clear environmentalist message as its characters Wirrel (the squirrel), Froggo (the frog), and other animals venture to find refuge in a city named…wait for it…Animalia.

I’ll bet you my entire ramen noodle stockpile that the mouse in this picture is named something along the lines of “Mousey”.

The film is being produced independently by Unique Features, a studio under the direction of New Line Cinema co-founders Michael Lynne and Bob Shaye, in collaboration with RGH Entertainment. This project could definitely prove to be a step in a new direction for both McCartney as well as Unique Features, but there’s no need to worry about Sir Paul stepping away from his music career; he’s got several numbers in the works for what is sure to be a movie with quirky characters, a meaningful message, and a solid soundtrack.

Are you excited to see High in the Clouds brought to the big screen?
