‘The Simpsons’: Interesting Couch Gag & Disappointing Movie Sequel News

Plympton-Simpsons-Couch-GagThe Simpsons has made some splashes across media headlines this week. Yesterday, it was announced that Bill Plympton, the Academy Award-nominated animator, has created an original couch-gag, which will be aired on this Sunday’s episode, “Black-Eyed, Please.”

You can see the film noir-style clip here:

What do you think of the clip? Personally, I love the couch gags, and am always amazed at the new and creative ideas The Simpsons animators come up with every week, and it is very cool to see them going to an outside source for a new spin.

This week’s episode will star comedian Tina Fey as a substitute teacher who bullies Lisa for no reason. Flanders also becomes jealous when his laid-back hippie parents prefer Homer’s company over his own.

Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, was also interviewed recently with producer-director David Silverman at UCLA during an entertainment symposium. They both insisted to that there will not be a new Simpsons movie out any time soon.

“It took us four years [to make] and it killed us,” said Groening. “[The movie] stole animators from the show and drained other resources. ”

“Maybe another 10, 15 years,” Silverman commented.

Well, I guess there’s always hope!

Are you disappointed by this news, or do you think that The Simpsons should remain in a 30-minute slot on TV?
