Everyone’s favorite comic strip cat, Garfield, is set to hit theaters once again! According to Variety, Alcon Entertainment bought the rights to Garfield from the author, Jim Davis. They plan to create a number of “fully CG-animated Garfield feature films” with Mr. Davis along as executive producer.
The lazy, lasagna-loving, Monday-hating Garfield has previously made cinematic debuts with the films, Garfield: The Movie (2004) and its sequel, Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties (2006). Whilst both films were live-action, the character of Garfield was animated and voiced by comedian-actor, Bill Murray.
Although these films performed well at the box office, they received very poor ratings! So, we hope that this new film franchise can fix the mistakes of the previous films and introduce Garfield properly to modern audiences.
Are you a fan of Garfield? How do you feel about this new film franchise? Who should be the voice of Garfield in this franchise? Let us know in the comments below!
