Remember the incredible Book 3 season finale that aired two weeks ago? And how sad Korra Nation was after realizing that we wouldn’t get Book 4 for potentially another year? Well, never fear! Looks like we’re getting The Legend of Korra Book 4: Balance next month on October 3!

Yes, you heard that right. Book 4 comes in three weeks.

The announcement was released as a special video on Nickolodeon.com. In the short 21-second video, The Legend of Korra co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino made the unexpected reveal, causing Korra fans across the globe to literally jump for joy.

The unexpected and hurried release of Book 4 makes you wonder if Nickelodeon just wants to be done with the series altogether. We knew that Book 4 was already in production in 2013, even before Book 3 aired. Then Nickelodeon rushed the release of Book 3 after some episodes were leaked online. Followed by the network deciding to completely pull Korra from its primetime lineup, opting to stream it online only instead. If Korra were such a lucrative series for Nick, you’d think that it would like to drag out the franchise instead of rushing it the end.

Either way, it is likely that this is the last series of the Avatar universe, unless somehow DiMartino and Konietzko are able to move it to another studio/network. (But it’s unsure who has the rights to the series: Nickelodeon or the creators?) Since this could be the end of both Korra and Avatar, it makes this final season that much more important to fans.

Just a few days ago, we got the official title of the book: Balance. We thought this was just a tease to tide over the fans until the season’s release sometime next year. But DiMartino posted the image of the new title on his tumblr with the words “GET READY SOON.” Guess we should have taken that hint a bit more seriously. (But really, no one expected the new season to air less than two months after Book 3’s finale.)

The new title fits the theme of Korra, especially after the weakened state, both physically and mentally, that Korra herself was left in at the end of the Book 3. Book 4 will be the finale season of the series and there’s still a lot of unanswered questions: will Korra be able to regain the connection with the past Avatars? Who was that captain that they made sure we noticed in the finale? Are we gonna meet the new Fire Lord? Are going to see Toph again?

The new episodes will each Friday on Nickelodeon.com and on the Nick app starting October 3.

In the words of DiMartino: “So stayed tuned. It’ll be awesome.”

Are you excited to get Book 4 of ‘The Legend of Korra’ so soon? What do you think of the title ‘Balance’ for the series’ final chapter?
