Despite the nonstop flow of trailers that we’ve gotten the past few months, Pixar has been a bit quiet about the soundtrack for its upcoming summer release Brave. But finally an Amazon pre-order page appeared, confirming that Walt Disney Records will indeed release Brave’s soundtrack, which will include both the score and original songs for the film.
The album contains the film’s score by Oscar-nominated composer Patrick Doyle, who is known for his work on Sense & Sensibility (1995) and Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire (2005). It will also feature songs from the Scottish Gaelic/Celtic singer Julie Fowlis, as well as a collaboration with the Grammy-winning band Mumford and Sons.
Pixar music fans were unsure whether the album would be released as a physical CD since Up and Toy Story 3 were only released in digital formats. But thankfully, Pixar has wizened up since those days and Brave’s album will be available in CD like last year’s Cars 2.
The Brave soundtrack drops June 19, 2012—3 days before the US release of the film.
