I used to watch it a lot when I was a kid. Sagwa, along with other PBS Kids shows around this time were part of my childhood. Too bad it currently isn’t available on DVD or streaming; I hope it does. I also adored Sagwa as a child and still enjoy watching the episodes today.

It really is an interesting look at Chinese culture while also mixing a bit of fantasy & moral lessons for people of all ages and races. Plus, it’s a show about animated cats that shows the simple beauty of calligraphy writing as an artform. What show can you think of that teaches that anymore?

I really hope this gets a complete series release or something. It’s a cartoon with a lot of charm and heart.

Well, it aired from September 3, 2001 to October 5, 2002; maybe that accounts for it.

I grew up with it, though, and recently rediscovered it via episodes that fans have uploaded to YouTube.
