The first trailer for the upcoming animated film, Sherlock Gnomes, has debuted:
The sequel to the 2011 sleeper hit, Gnomeo & Juliet, Sherlock Gnomes continues the story of garden gnomes who come to life when their “owners” are not present. After the gnomes from the first film, including Gnomeo (James McAvoy) and Juliet (Emily Blunt) are moved to a new garden, many of them start to disappear. Gnomeo and Juliet then enlist the help of a detective gnome, Sherlock Gnomes (Johnny Depp), and his assistant, Watson (Chiwetel Ejiofor), to solve the mystery.
While the first film was produced by Disney via their Touchstone Pictures label, Sherlock Gnomes will be produced by Paramount Animation, Rocket Pictures, and Metro-Goldwayn-Mayer. The film is being directed by John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) and is set to hit theaters on March 23, 2018.
What do you think of the trailer? Do you think it captures the feel of its predecessor? Or does it evoke a “What the Fertilizer?” reaction? Did Gnomeo & Juliet need a sequel or has the time for that passed? Let us know in the comments below!
