Disney Releases First Look at ‘Lion King’ Spin-Off, ‘The Lion Guard’

LionGuard

This Friday, Disney Channel’s The Lion Guard will see the return of four characters from The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride.

“Lion of the Outlands” will be a special episode of The Lion King‘s hit spinoff show. Jason Marsden, Andy Dick, and Lacey Chabert reprise their roles Kovu, Nuka, and Vitani, respectively, descendants of Scar. They are the children of Zira, who also appears in the episode but whose voice has yet to be confirmed.

Disney has released video of Andy Dick and Lacey Chabert in the recording studio.

This marks the first time that these characters have appeared in any Disney media since the original 1998 debut of The Lion King 2. Simba’s daughter, Kiara, is a regular character on The Lion Guard, which first aired this time last year. The timeline for the series takes place while Kiara and Kovu are still cubs. The news of Kovu and the gang’s return was first announced last December.

The Lion Guard primarily tells of Kion, Simba and Nala’s son who forms a group of animals to protect the Pride Lands. “Lion of the Outlands” will air Friday, November 11, at 8:30 a.m. on Disney Channel and Saturday, November 12, at 10:00 a.m. on Disney Junior.
