It’s not because of the all-female cast (I personally feel when they announced that fact it felt super patronizing). The majority of people who are upset with the trailer is because 1) the jokes aren’t that funny and 2) it looks like retelling of the same story. If you look at the original Ghostbusters movie, it worked because you had a ridiculous premise that was made fun by a group of people from SNL. While they’re doing that with this new reboot, it’s already been done and they should have just done something new in terms of story. Heck, if they didn’t have the “Ghostbusters” name, I bet you most people would be more open to it. Overall, it just looks like another unnecessary reboot that’s banking on nostalgia.

In reply to Q-A the Authoress. It's not a fallback plan. The animated films for Spider-Man and Ghostbusters are really something extra on the side, something that will complement the live-action films. Smurfs is a straight-up reboot.

Wow, so Sony already thinks the reboot of Ghostbusters is going to suck and they’re doing a cartoon fallback plan like they did with Spider-Man and the Smurfs? XP Sony, what are you guys doing?

In reply to Callum J. To be fair we don't actually know how the reboot will turn out until it's released. Also, there have been some good SPA movies and it does look like they are learning from their mistakes.

Sorry, but I’m rooting for the reboot over this. It looks hilarious, and it’s so nice to see a movie that’s just focusing on the friendships between a team of girls instead of having them be jealous and catty toward each other 24/7. I really don’t get all the hate- why are people getting so worked up about it? If it was an all-male cast and pretty much the same plot, I bet you would be fine with it…
