I haven’t heard any rumors of Gigantic using Meander, and it’s been in production for such a long time already, they’ve probably settled on CG. They do keep using the lame excuse “when we find the right story for it.” when it comes to 2D visuals. We all know they’re perfectly capable of doing another 2D film if they really wanted to. Who knows, maybe you’ll be right, but I do hope they’ll at least keep doing shorts with it until we get a feature.

Really? Paperman and Feast are the only Disney Animation shorts to have won academy awards since ‘It’s Tough To Be A Bird’ during Walt Disney’s era. Plus, Paperman was released in 2012: Gigantic will be released in 2018. I am pretty sure that 6 years is more than enough time to master Meander technology. And besides, the shorts were probably made as test drives to see if a full motion picture could be handled in that style, besides, I can probably, almost guarantee you that the shorts for Zootopia and Moana will also be Meander to further test the waters.

People see what they want to see – there is no similarity btw. Moana and Rapunzel *at all* – they are as different as two female CG characters can be.

Well, among the animation community it was. And I do admit I overrated it when I first saw it because of how much I wanted to love it. Anyhow, I’m pretty sure the hype had something to do with it.

I don’t think that the anticipation for Frozen was that high. I mean, obviously it was big, but Frozen was a huge financial success because word of mouth carried it throughout the months after it came out. It had good legs. Most movies with high levels of anticipation open huge and then deflate after that. Frozen opened solidly but then continued to gross excellently for weeks.

I sure hope too because Paperman and Feast were well deserving Ocar winning shorts that led to two equally awesome movies and those two are Wreck it Ralph and Big Hero 6.

You really think so? I feel that the hype and anticipation for Frozen was unprecedented for a recent Disney movie plus its winter theme and release at Christmas season added to the excitement. I don’t see Moana breaking records. It’s like you can almost already feel the level of excitement is not quite as high.
