From sites such as Screen Rant, we learn that an animated feature film based on The Jetsons is in development.
The Jetsons was a Hanna-Barbera cartoon that aired from 1962-1963 and 1985-1987. It centered around a family called the Jetsons comprised of the working father, George, homemaker Jane, their kids, Judy and Elroy, their housemaid robot, Rosie, and their dog, Astro.
The cartoon was meant to be a futuristic equivalent of Hanna-Barbera’s popular cartoon, The Flintstones. Whilst The Flintstones was set in prehistoric times, The Jetsons took place in the future – 2062, to be precise.
A theatrical animated film, Jetsons: The Movie, was released in 1990, but proved to be a box office bomb. Since then, a live-action adaptation of The Jetsons has been in development for years up to no avail until this recent news about making the film animated.
The film is being written by Matt Lieberman who was previously penned to write a script for an animated Scooby-Doo film, which we’ve yet to hear more about. No other information has been released regarding this animated The Jetsons film.
