Yeah I'll have to agree with Matthew. Because I can totally relate to having to deal with a dad more concerned with sports and masculinity than taking other's feelings seriously & trying to understand. It may be an aggravating trope, but people like that really exist. It'll be interesting to see how this family deals with that.

This looks really creative! The way the movie handles the subtext of something as mundane as a family dinner puts a fresh spin on things and looks like a lot of fun.

You know, "sexist" is a pretty severe term to just throw around like that. Why can't the dad just happen to be a character that likes football?

I've heard this complaint in a few places and it really bugs me. It feels like people are just trying to be offended these days by the most benign things.

I may be the only one here, but I think having three sets of "emotions" makes the film a little confusing and hard to follow. I'd be happy with just following the emotions in Riley's head, not also her parents' to add to the confusion. I know they have distinctly different designs but still, the movie looks hilarious and really innovative!

I loved it! I keep watching it, its that funny! and I actually understand why the parents emotions look alike, its because they have their emotions controlled as they get older while Riley still needs to control hers and then maybe they start to all look like her
Makes sense right???

It probably means exactly what you think it means.

You bring up some interesting points, James! While I'm excited for the potential for hilarious character animation (especially with such a fun voice cast), I wonder how the movie will shine with such a "small" range of emotions. I hope they have some surprises in store for us!

I am excited for this film, and the trailer did keep the flame alive, but... I didn't like it.

I like the parents (their designs, characterizations, voice acting), and I don't mind going into their heads, but does everyone have the same five emotions controlling them? There are more feelings than joy, sadness, disgust, anger, and fear. Riley I was willing to give a pass, since she's so young and may not have developed more complex feelings yet, but shouldn't the parents be different?

And all the emotion designs are the same. Riley has the default versions, mom has them with glasses, and dad has them with mustaches. It takes away from the creativity to me.

One last erk: So all of dad's emotions are male and all of mom's emotions are female. Okay I get it hahaha. But Riley has three females and two males. What is that suppose to mean?

Still excited! Just not too hot on the trailer.
