motion capture was the biggest specialty for kochadaiyaan, that is
how they marketed it along with rajni but in this that specialty is now
carnaged.everything including animation efforts gone against photo realistic technique.now they have soars to provide the audience.

they would have opted for descent animation rather taking a blind jump into motion sense capture without understanding the drawbacks and not having enough capacity or knowledge to occupy and fulfill its beauty.its disappointing to see such bad looking low end graphics also in "3d" cinema halls

In reply to <a href="https://www.rotoscopers.com/2014/05/02/india-to-release-first-mo-cap-film-kochadaiiyaan/#comment-7405">Gary Wright</a>.

I've seen "Roadside Romeo" and didn't think it was too bad since it was the first full-length animated Indian film (or so I think).

I've also seen "Toonpur Ka Superhero" with Kajol and Ajay Devgn and although the character animation was horrible, I feel that the background animation was quite good for Indian animation standards.

And Dreamworks' Mumbai Musical better get Amitabh Bachchan as a voice or else, lol!

Since I live in India and have first hand experience of Bollywood, I have no idea what's keeping the Indian animation industry from flourishing. They never seem to find creative ideas (it's always religious texts or epics), the animation quality is always poor and these movies never seem to catch on. International movies like Tangled and the Despicable Me movies have been big hits here. And we can't blame funding, because some studios have a lot of resources to make quality movies. Besides, movies like Planes and the Tinker Bell series are all outsourced to India.
If you're interested in some better quality Indian animated movies, check out Roadside Romeo (Disney jointly made it), Delhi Safari, and an anime-inspired hand drawn version of the Ramayana. Oh and Dreamworks' Mumbai Musical looks to put India up there and how!
