Awesome podcast and I love this movie, not as much as ‘Spirited Away’, but still. I love the imaginative aspect of everything and love the characters especially that of Sophie.

Just started listening (and cherry picked this episode because I love this movie). Great podcast! But only 3.5 stars for Howl? Anyway I went and read the original book after seeing this movie – I highly recommend the book!

Great episode once again! It is not my favorite Miyazaki film but I really enjoyed it. My favorite is Castle in the sky. Wish you will do this movie one time! Love your work! Keep on! Also, you have now 4 Requests for Rise of the guardians!

PS: I was happily suprised that you mentioned The Legend of Korra! It’s my favorite animated cartoon with of course, Avatar the Last Airbender !! I would totally like to know more in details your thoughts about it!!

You know, I have to agree with the other 3 votes: “Rise of the Guardians” is a pretty amazing, under-apreciated piece of work. I mean, when del Toro puts his stamp on something, boy does he stamp it.

Moustaches? Mike Wazowski in the Batcave? Hahaha!! So true. I actually can trace a Disney flick by the prince’s hairstyle more than the princess.

Transformations are in a lot of Anime films/shows. I think it’s called “the borrowed form” when the human body exists as a shell for the “real form” that can be beautiful, terrifying, and/or powerful.

Howl is a fun complex character. Gotta agree that the storytelling in this one is a bit confusing (as was the novel) but “Howl’s Moving Castle” is a favorite of mine. Miyazaki makes steampunk fun and exciting.
