UPDATE: The aforementioned Wikipedia page for this rumor has been removed. The reason? “Vandalism – blatant hoax or misinformation.” We thought there was something fishy about it. So obviously, this was a RUMOR to the nth degree and there no announced plans for a film. Oh well. Our hopes of a future Bluth-Goldman film still remain crushed.
Ok, we know that Wikipedia isn’t a real source. But still, a new Wikipedia page recently popped up making us wonder: is Don Bluth returning to animation?
According to the Wikipedia page, he and long time cohort, Gary Goldman, are directing a traditionally animated 3D Christmas film entitled, “Santa Claus’ Forgetful Villiage.” The film is scheduled to be released Christmas 2014 (November 26, 2014, to be exact) and will be produced and distributed by Warner Brothers. The only voice actor listed is Andre Stojka. The page has no sources listed as to where these rumors (news?) came from.
As huge Don Bluth and Gary Goldman fans, we thought the news was somewhat hopefully as to the duo’s future. It’s been over ten years since their last full-length feature and, personally, it’s a shame it has been that long. If this news is true, it makes us very excited for the pair!
What are your thoughts on this rumor? Are you excited to see Don and Gary back in animation? Let us know in the comments.
